The Benton MacKaye Trail (BMT) begins on Springer Mountain 0.2 miles north of the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail. The trail then proceeds North, roughly parallel to the AT, for nearly 300 miles through designated wilderness and the Great Smoky Mountains national Park before ending at davenport Gap on the AT. The BMT Thru Hiker's Guide is an excellent resource for trip planning and hiking alike. It is full of detailed information including trail mileage and elevation and detailed descriptions of both the trail and nearby towns. The maps and elevation profiles use icons to make finding services and resources quick and easy. And the guide offers a great deal of information on logistics to help hikers prepare for their hike no matter the duration.[button_icon href="/benton-mackaye-trail-thru-hikers-guide-updates/" icon_path="" icon="arrow" sense="rtl" target="_blank" ]DATA UPDATES[/button_icon]
